Which stores have the best Black Friday deals?
The largest American retailers are going to great lengths to win your Black Friday patronage because – for some of them – their livelihoods are at stake.
Black Friday sales can be a lifeline for floundering retailers and could mean the difference between thriving in 2020 or filing for bankruptcy.
“It is not a coincidence that struggling retailers frequently are offering the ‘best deals,’” said Jan Rogers Kniffen, retail expert and CEO of J Rogers Kniffen WWE. “They desperately need traffic in their stores.”
October through December, or the fourth quarter, is crucial to retailers because performance has the ability to determine and forecast the following year’s earnings. The quarter “typically represents the largest sales period for most retailers, so it is an important indicator of health,” said Michelle Skupin, senior director of marketing and communications at RetailMeNot.
The most effective marketing strategy is to “scream louder” than the competition with big deal offerings, Kniffen said.
“Will it drive visitors to a store or website? Yes,” Kniffen said. “Will it solve those company’s problems? No.”
To get the best shopping deals this holiday season, capitalizing on America’s failing retailers will yield the highest discounts, with discounts as much as 50% to 60% off, according to WalletHub’s 2019’s Best Stores for Black Friday.
