Bill and Melinda Gates Share Photos of Their First Granddaughter
Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates are new grandparents! Their eldest daughter, Jennifer, welcomed her first child with her husband Nayel Nassar.
The couple announced the news on Instagram with a photograph of their baby's feet. Jennifer wrote, "sending love from our healthy little family 💓🙏🥰" The two did not share their baby's name.
Melinda commented, "Welcome to the world. My heart overflows.💗🥰💖" Her sister, Phoebe, commented three red hearts.
Jennifer is currently getting her Masters in Public Health before finishing medical school, and Nayel is a professional equestrian who represents Egypt. They both attended Stanford University, and started dating in 2017.
Jennifer and Nayel married in October 2021 on a farm in North Salem, New York. They announced their pregnancy in November 2022. On their announcement post, Melinda wrote, "I couldn't be more excited to meet this little one and watch you two become parents. 💖"
Around a month later, both Bill and Melinda shared snaps with their new granddaughter. "There is nothing quite like holding your first grandchild 🥰 It seems like just yesterday I was holding Jenn at this age. Now she has a baby of her own—and I am bursting with pride watching her and Nayel step into their new role as parents," Melinda wrote.
Bill shared, "I can’t wait to watch you discover the world."
Bill and Melinda, who announced their divorce in May 2021, have three children: Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe. At the time of their divorce, they shared, "Over the past 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives."
The ex-couple remains "friendly" but not friends, Melinda told Gayle King last year. "There’s still healing that needs to happen. I certainly wish him well. I don’t wish him harm. I think we have a productive working relationship, and I think that will continue."
