Biden to visit PA to push COVID relief plan

The House is set to vote to extend the deadline for the Paycheck Protection Program. Yahoo Finance’s Akiko Fujita Zack Guzman, and Jessica Smith discuss what to expect.

Video Transcript

ZACK GUZMAN: President Biden coming off the enactment of that $1.9 trillion stimulus bill, and now making the rounds in something of a victory lap. And for more on that, I want to bring on Yahoo Finance's Jessica Smith, who has the latest. Jess.

JESSICA SMITH: Yeah, Zack. The administration is spreading out all over the country to tout the American Rescue package. They say that the goal of this "Help is Here" tour, as they're calling, is to let people know what benefits they're entitled to because of this massive relief bill. President Biden is heading to the battleground state of Pennsylvania today. Of course, the state that was key in sending him to the White House. He's expected to visit a small business in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Democrats have said that back in 2009, they didn't do enough to promote their rescue package. So they are trying to do things differently this time around. But Vice President Kamala Harris said yesterday that they aren't trying to sell the package. She says it's more of a public education campaign. Let's watch.

KAMALA HARRIS: It's literally letting people know their rights, right? It's kind of like, you buy a product. You've already been sold on the product. But you need some directions on the box usually. Right? And so this is about, hey, know that you're entitled to this. File your taxes so that you can speed up the benefits that you're going to receive.

JESSICA SMITH: Harris and the Second Gentleman will be in Colorado today. They're planning on visiting a vaccination site. And then later this week, Harris and the president are both heading to Georgia, another state that was key in not only sending them to the White House, but making sure Democrats had control of the Senate. Zack and Akiko.

AKIKO FUJITA: OK, the PR push underway there. Jessica Smith bringing us that story. Thanks so much for that.
