Biden to unveil long-awaited executive action on guns, Sen. Brown asks banks to detail their links to Archegos

EMILY MCCORMICK: Welcome back to Yahoo Finance Live. We're taking a look at some news on the move this afternoon. President Joe Biden announcing new gun control measures and calling gun violence in the US a, quote, "international embarrassment" in the wake of the recent deadly shootings in Colorado and Georgia. In one action, Biden is directing the Justice Department to tighten regulations on the purchase of so-called ghost guns, or firearms made from kits that have to date been untraceable. The Biden administration is also making $1 billion in grants available to community violence intervention programs.
We're also watching the latest fallout from the Archegos Capital implosion. US Senator Sherrod Brown, a Democrat from Ohio and the chair of the Senate Banking Committee, wrote letters to leaders at Credit Suisse, Nomura, and Goldman Sachs, pressing the firms over their involvement with Archegos. Brown saying he was, quote, "troubled, but not surprised by the next reports that Archegos entered into risky derivatives transactions facilitated by major investment banks." He's given the banks until April 22 to give responses to a list of his inquiries.
And finally, former Vice President Mike Pence has a book deal. The former member of the Trump administration signed a two-book autobiographic deal with publisher Simon and Schuster. The deal is reportedly valued between $3 and $4 million, according to CNN. And it's one of the first major book deals from a member of former President Trump's inner cir--
