The Chicago Bears were plagued by missed tackles in last Sunday night’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, which was evident both against the run and pass.
Chicago allowed 203 yards on the ground, where Packers running back Aaron Jones had his way with 132 yards on 15 carries (8.8 average). Missed tackles were a big issue in those struggles.
Head coach Matt Eberflus said he is “not tolerant at all” of missed tackles, even though he admitted they’re more frequent during the beginning of a season.
Eberflus said that technique is the issue and that they were tackling too high and need to tackle lower.
“If you take a person’s legs away,” Eberflus said, “they can’t run.”
He said that they’re going to work tirelessly to get the issue fixed, starting Wednesday in practice. The Bears will be tested on Sunday when the Texans come to town, as they’re likely to run the ball a ton.
