Basketball roundup: P-W girls edge Portland St. Patrick, Lansing Catholic routs No. 6 Frankenmuth

PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 36, PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 33

WESTPHALIA — Elly Bengal hit a go-ahead 3-pointer and a pair of free throws in the final minute to push the Pirates to a CMAC victory over Portland St. Patrick. Bengal finished with a team-high 10 points for Pewamo-Westphalia (10-5, 6-5). Gracelyn Rockley led all scorers with 12 points and hauled in six rebounds and Natalie Teachworth chipped in 10 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Shamrocks (8-7, 5-4).

LANSING CATHOLIC 74, FRANKENMUTH 42

FRANKENMUTH — Anna Richards had eight 3-pointers while scoring 29 points for Lansing Catholic in a nonleague road win over Division 2 No. 6-ranked Frankenmuth (12-2). Leah Richards finished with 14 points, Morgan Wilcox scored 10 points and Gabby Halliwill chipped in eight points for Lansing Catholic (13-4) in its 11th straight win.

Janae Tyler and Rhema Dozier each finished with 10 points to keep the Rams (14-2, 6-0) unbeaten in CAAC Blue play with a victory over Waverly. Claire Tobias added seven points for Holt, which won its eighth straight.

DANSVILLE 43, SARANAC 9

DANSVILLE — Kourtney Mack and Gracie Taylor each had 14 points for the Division 3 No. 2-ranked Aggies in their CMAC victory. Elizabeth Carpenter added seven points for Dansville (15-1).

LESLIE 49, PERRY 25

LESLIE — Lily Smeiska notched 14 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Blackhawks to a GLAC home victory over Perry (4-13, 1-8). Reece DeRose scored 10 points and Alayna Brown chipped in eight points for Leslie (11-6, 4-4).

MORRICE 55, BURTON BENDLE 31

MORRICE — Aubrey Rogers turned in a double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Orioles in their win. Makenzie Doerner added 14 points for Morrice.

OLIVET 69, MAPLE VALLEY 9

OLIVET — Kienan Dennison finished with 12 points and Ava Myers added 11 points, three steals and three assists for the Eagles (13-4, 8-1) in their GLAC victory over Maple Valley (1-13, 0-8).

EASTERN 43, WILLIAMSTON 41

WILLIAMSTON — Tavion Harden led the Quakers with a team-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a CAAC Red win over Williamston (3-14, 1-6). KyRen McKnight picked up 12 points and J. Garcia added eight points for Eastern (8-6, 6-1).

FOWLERVILLE 61, HASLETT 52

FOWLERVILLE — Brendan Ray led all scorers with 18 points to help guide the Gladiators to a CAAC Red win over Haslett. Griffin Gonzalez picked up 10 points and Dillion Wieas added six points and pulled down eight rebounds for Fowlerville (3-10, 1-6). Zack Nartker and Luke Blattert each finished with a team-high 15 points and D’Angelo Fitzpatrick tacked on seven points for the Vikings (2-13, 2-5).

BURTON BENDLE 68, MORRICE 30

MORRICE — Oliver Long scored a team-high seven points for the Orioles in a home loss to Burton Bendle (7-7). Drew McGowan added on six points for Morrice (1-12).
