Your ballot is on the way if you're a Vermont registered voter. Here's how to vote early.

A poll worker in Essex offers “I voted” stickers to people exiting Essex Middle School during primary voting on Aug. 9, 2022.

Voting is about to begin. Though the Nov. 8 election is still over a month away, all registered Vermont voters will receive ballots to vote early in the next two weeks, according to the Vermont Secretary of State's Office.

Those who are registered to vote do not have to request a ballot — it will be delivered automatically by mail.

Not registered yet? Those who register to vote after Oct. 1, the date the state is required to send early voting ballots, can request an early voting ballot through the day before the election or the last day their town clerk's office is open before Election Day.

Early voting ballots, also called absentee ballots, must mailed or returned to a local town clerk's office by the day before the election or can be delivered to a voter's polling place on Election Day before 7 p.m.

If a voter is disabled or sick on Election Day, they can request a ballot to be delivered to their house by two justices of the peace. The justices will then take the ballot to the person's polling place. Voters must request this service by 5 p.m. on Election Day.

Vermonters can register to vote even on Election Day.

More information about voting and voting early can be found on the Vermont Secretary of State's website.
