Author Sarah Branson to read debut novel in Petoskey's Pennsylvania Park
PETOSKEY — Longtime Michigan resident Sarah Branson will read from her debut novel, “A Merry Life,” at the Pennsylvania Park Gazebo on Monday, June 13.
The 6 p.m. reading and book signing will take place under the small gazebo at Pennsylvania Park. The event is free and open to the public.
“Due to Pennsylvania Park's prime location and scenic atmosphere, I thought it was the perfect spot to host a book signing and reading,” Branson said. “I look forward to introducing my new book to the Petoskey community.”
Branson lived in Petoskey and Big Rapids for nearly 20 years, working as a writing tutor, certified midwife nurse and teacher while raising a family. She first started conjuring stories of pirates at the age of 7 when her family hopped a freighter to Australia.
After leaving Michigan, she spent six years teaching science and history to middle and high school students in Brazil and Japan before returning to the states, this time in Connecticut, where she recently ended a successful career as a midwife to write full time.
The first in the Pirates of New Earth series, “A Merry Life” was published by Sooner Started Press in April. The second book in the series, “Navigating the Storm,” is due out in July 2022.
“A Merry Life” will be available for purchase at Mclean and Eakin Booksellers, located at 307 E. Lake St.
