Athlete, Student of the Week

Colter Kerber has been selected as the Athlete of the Week at Prairie Central Jr. High by track and field coach Clay Pinkham. Colter, an eighth grader, is the son of Laura and Chris Kerber of Forrest.

“Colter's hard work pays off in the meets,” Pinkham said. “This past meet, Colter won first in the seventh grde 400 meters just to name one of his events.

“He is an outstanding hard worker at practice and is a leader by example.”

Colter also plays basketball. His future plans include farming.

Student of the Week

Ian Alverson has been named Student of the Week at Prairie Central Jr. High by his teacher Allison Wilson. Ian, a seventh grader, is the son of Kyle Alverson and Michelle Ciulla of Fairbury.

“Ian has gone above and beyond to help other students and teachers,” Wilson said. “He works hard and follows rules and routines on his own. He has a great sense of humor, as well.”

Ian also participates in football and basketball, and has a large sports card collection. He hopes to play basketball in college.
