Finalists announced for 2024-25 Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year
The three finalists for the 2024-25 Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year award have been announced, with the trio already holding firm as national figures who have made headlines during the season.
Aaliyah Chavez, Jasmine 'Jazzy' Davidson and Sienna Betts step into the spotlight in hopes of joining Gatorade's 40-year legacy of all-time great basketball players alongside the likes of Candace Parker, Paige Bueckers, and JuJu Watkins.
Ahead of the announcement, here's a look at each of the hardwood standouts, who are undoubtedly going to play a significant part in the future of women's hoops.
Aaliyah Chavez
High School: Monterey (Lubbock, Texas)
Position: Point Guard
College Commitment: Undecided
Chavez has been the best of the best this season, holding rank as the nation's top recruit in the 2025 class. Listed at 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11—depending on the recruiting outlet—she's been one of the most dynamic players on a nationally ranked Plainsmen team, showing off pure shooting ability while controlling the floor like a seasoned pro.
Per Gatorade, she had eight career games of 50-plus points and—one of the wildest stars ever—scored 1,300 points in the regular season, which is more than the overall totals of five teams that played Monterey.
Jasmine 'Jazzy' Davidson
High School: Clackamas (Ore.)
Position: Shooting Forward
College Commitment: USC
Jazzy's another talent with so many ways to impact a game that you'd be hard-pressed not to call her a 6-star standout. The 6-foot-1 forward was the driving force behind a Cavaliers team that ranked with the best in the nation, picking up a 6A career scoring record with an all-around ability that will be on full display next season at USC (and beyond).
Per Gatorade, the three-time returning state Player of the Year also has quite a medal collection going: USA Basketball gold medalist 18U and FIBA 3v3 gold medalist.
Sienna Betts
High School: Grandview (Aurora, Colo.)
Position: Power Forward
College Commitment: UCLA
Betts' size is remarkably deceiving, with the 6-foot-4 forward displaying a combo of a great post-game and smooth ability to knock down midrange jumpers—and even 3-pointers—all day. (Good luck defending her at any level.) Like the other two finalists, her impact on the court helped lead the Wolves into the national spotlight. That same ability should be fun to watch at UCLA next season, where she'll join her sister, Lauren, on the Bruins squad.
Per Gatorade, the two-time returning state Player of the Year is also a 2025 Naismith Semifinalist and currently holds state record for career rebounding.
