Amy Schumer is known for being open with her followers, and the comedian is continuing to do so throughout her journey with in vitro fertilization (IVF). On Saturday, Schumer revealed that she and husband Chris Fischer have one embryo following a round of fertility assistance.

“Hey! So IVF went like this for us,” Schumer, 38, captioned an Instagram photo which showed her sporting a furry hat and a smile. “They retrieved 35 eggs from me. Not bad for the old gal right? Then 26 fertilized! Whoah right? For all of those we got 1 normal embryo from that and 2 low level mosaic (mosaic means there are some abnormal cells but can still lead to a healthy baby) So we feel lucky we got 1! But what a drop off right?”

Schumer said she is thankful to fans, writing, “...I have so appreciated everyone sharing their IVF stories with me. They made me feel empowered and supported. So I wanted to tell you how mine went down.”

She added, “So many women go through many rounds of IVF which is painful and mentally grueling. I heard from hundreds of women about their miscarriages and struggles and also many hopeful stories...” which was “encouraging.”

Schumer also praised her 9-month-old son Gene Attell. “I am so grateful for our son and that we have the resources to get help in this way,” she wrote. “I just wanted to share and send love and strength to all of the warrior women who go through this process....” and encouraged followers to text her using the phone number in her bio.

Several celebrities chimed in to support Schumer’s announcement. Lily Aldridge commented with a series of heart emojis, while Olympian ski racer Lindsey Vonn wrote, “Yeah girl!! That’s a lot of eggs!!” Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter told Schumer “You’re so amazing” while Debra Messing wrote, “Congratulations!!!!”

Last month, Schumer revealed in a series of Instagram posts that she was undergoing IVF in the hopes of giving Gene a sibling. “We are gonna freeze embryos hopefully,” she captioned one photo, which showed her lying down in the examination room of a doctor’s office. “I feel incredibly lucky. I’m really hoping this works and staying positive.”

Schumer and Fischer married in 2018, and welcomed baby Gene in May after a particularly difficult pregnancy that included hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition that causes never-ending nausea.
