Alexis Morris declares for WNBA draft

LSU will be losing one of its star backcourt leaders.

Alexis Morris announced her plans to enter the WNBA draft on Tuesday.

Morris had a whirlwind college career. She began with Kim Mulkey at Baylor before leaving the program. She then had stops at Rutgers and Texas A&M before reuniting with Mulkey at LSU.

At LSU, Morris took a major step. She played 32.7 minutes per game in her time with the Tigers. Prior to joining LSU, she averaged just 7.3 per game. Over the last two years, that number rose to 15.2.

Morris came up big for LSU on its national title run and averaged 23 points per game over LSU’s last three games.

Upon returning from Houston, Morris threw out the first pitch at LSU’s Tuesday night baseball game.

Morris was a floor general at LSU and a key part of Mulkey’s rebuild. It’ll be tough to replace a point guard of her caliber.
