Alamogordo Recreation Center hosts after school programs
Alamogordo Family Recreation Center at 1100 Oregon Ave., will host two after school programs during the 2023-2024 school year.
The After School Hangout (ASH) program for middle school students will start on Monday, Aug. 14 alongside the After School Frenzy (ASF) program.
After School Hangout Program
According to a news release by Alamogordo Family Recreation Center, there will be a $42 weekly fee for the program. Rates may change depending on the time the child stays at the program and if it is a Holiday week.
Registration for children opens at 8 a.m., Wednesday, July 19 online and in-person.
The program will run through the entire school year (May 24, 2024) and is open to sixth through eighth graders from Chaparral Middle School and Mountain View Middle School.
Students will have access to recreational activities and presentations with guest speakers not yet announced by the Alamogordo Family Rec. Center.
The Alamogordo Family Rec. Center will pick students up from school after class Monday through Friday for both programs. Students can stay at the Alamogordo Family Rec Center until 5:45 p.m.
The ASH program will also include Full Days that will host students from 7:45 a.m. until 5:45 p.m., but rates may vary from the $42 fee.
The ASH program will not include holiday breaks. Instead, those dates fall under separate camps not yet announced, said the release.
After School Frenzy program
The ASF program will run the same time as the ASH program, from Aug. 14, 2023, through May 24, 2024. Registration opens at 8 a.m., on Wednesday, July 19 online and in-person.
ASF program is for elementary students, kindergarteners through fifth grade. The program will also pick up students after school from the following elementary schools:
Buena Vista Elementary School
Desert Star Elementary School
La Luz Elementary School
North Sierra Elementary School
Sunset Hills Elementary School
Yucca Elementary School
ASF program has a weekly fee of $52 but that can change depending on the time the child stays and if it is a holiday week.
"Holiday breaks are not included in the ASF program as those are still camps not yet announced," said Alamogordo Family Rec. Center officials in a news release.
The children will have the chance at recreational activities such as swimming and a variety of sports. The children will also have opportunities to attend field trips and movies said the Alamogordo Family Rec. Center release.
AFRC staff said snacks are provided during both after school programs.
