Adorable Kids Play Tic-Tac-Toe With Seniors Through the Windows
As we enter our third week or more of quarantine, families are still trying to settle into a new normal routine. With more information coming out daily on how this social distancing is impacting the spread of the coronavirus, people are finding creative ways to make sure no one feels alone while isolated. And that’s what these kids did when they found a creative way to reach out to a community who is at risk of both isolation and the COVID-19.
Winfield Senior Living Community in Winfield, Kansas, is a rehabilitation and nursing care facility that cares for seniors. As officials have stated, older people and those with pre-existing health conditions are most at-risk for contracting coronavirus and experiencing the more severe effects of the virus. Because of this, many community centers are heeding the advice of experts and closing the doors to visitors.
Seniors who live in care facilities often rely on visitors to help keep their spirits up and visits with friends and family are a much-loved part of their day. Still, as the need to quarantine is imperative, a group of kids found a way to show care and visit with the seniors—all in a safe way that respects the social distancing and quarantine rules.
The Winfield Senior Living Community shared some images on Facebook of the seniors and visiting kids playing tic-tac-toe with each other. But, since visitors are not allowed in the facility, these guys all played on the window. Using tape as the tic-tac-toe board on the window, the kids stayed outside and placed their x’s and o’s on the outside of the window using markers, and the seniors stayed inside and marked the inside window.
