Abilene police ID another man in 2005 cold case killing

The Abilene Police Department on Wednesday announced a second arrest in what has been an 18-year-old cold case.

Jose Angelo Morales, 43, is charged with first degree homicide in connection with the 2005 north Abilene killing of Bobby Knox Beck. In October, Marco Ramos was arrested and charged with first degree homicide.

Morales currently is in Tom Green County Jail on unrelated charges.

In April 2005, according to police, Beck was involved in an altercation with two unknown Hispanic males. He was stabbed multiple times outside a home in the 1900 block of North Fifth Street, and died from those injuries.

His death has been a cold case for years. With new DNA technology available, Abilene police reopened the case and testing results of evidence at the scene identified Morales and Ramos.

Morales is being held on a $200,000 bond.

Ramos is out on bond.

APD worked in tandem with the Department of Public Safety crime lab, Tarrant County Medical Examiners crime lab and Taylor County District Attorney's Office.
