15 'babymoon' destinations for expecting couples
If you're pregnant and starting to feel cabin fever, you might be ready for a "babymoon."
Babymoons are vacations during pregnancy and can be a last grab at quality time with your partner before life gets crazy. Babymoons can also be family celebrations to seal one last memory of your brood before kids become big siblings.
"It's an amazing time to have that last hurrah ... before life revolves around a new bundle of joy,” Michelle London, founder of the luxury travel service Away We Globe tells TODAY.com.
While babymoons can be spent at extravagant bucket-list places, they can also be simple road trips or staycations. Anything goes, as long as they're stress-free. London says the point of any babymoon is to "take time as a couple, reinforce (your) bond and indulge in some major self-care.”
Here are 15 of the best babymoon destinations.
Domestic babymoon destinations
Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts
Martha's Vineyard is an island off the coast of Massachusetts with six gorgeous towns to explore, all with different personalities. Visit the charming gingerbread houses in bustling Oak Bluffs, stand on the "Jaws" bridge (featured in the 1975 film) that connects Oak Bluffs to Edgartown or chill in peaceful, quiet West Tisbury.
The California coastline
"I love planning road trips along the California coast for a more active babymoon," London tells TODAY.com. "It’s a really nice way to explore different destinations and landscapes without having to travel too far — the beaches of Malibu, the cute cities of Santa Barbara and Carmel, and the rugged coastline and wilderness of Big Sur."
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Santa Fe is a small town in New Mexico with so much to see: visit the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, sample decadent desserts at Kakawa Chocolate House or support local Native American jewelry artists.
New Orleans, Louisiana
In New Orleans, you can stroll through the colorful French quarter, listen to jazz, take a bayou tour or eat the best gumbo, beignets and muffuletta sandwiches of your life.

With its glowing red-rock backdrop, Sedona is all about the scenery, hiking, art and spirituality. It's the ultimate destination for a chill or active babymoon.
Fairbanks, Alaska
To experience the famous Northern Lights, aka the "aurora borealis," head to Fairbanks, Alaska, preferably between August and April when you might see the celestial light show. According to NASA, "the creation of an aurora typically starts when the aun sends a surge of charged particles — through solar flares, coronal mass ejections, or an active solar wind — toward Earth."
Nashville, Tennessee
Music lovers will crush on Nashville, where there is no shortage of BBQ restaurants, concerts and culture. Check out the Johnny Cash Museum or the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum or make the three-hour drive to theme park Dollywood, founded by Dolly Parton, in Pigeon Forge.
Puerto Rico
Visit Puerto Rico for salsa music, delicious traditional restaurants or the window shopping in Old San Juan. Tour Castillo San Felipe del Morro, aka "El Morro," a six-story Spanish fortification, catch a weekend festival or admire colorful street art.
