New $6 million Sky Zone at Edgewater Mall has bounce, zipline, flying trapeze and more
Sky Zone trampoline park at Edgewater Mall is ready for its debut Friday morning and brings a new level of family entertainment on the Coast.
The ribbon cutting opening is at 10 a.m. Friday and once customers enter they’ll see an indoor playground filled with fun attractions and a $100,000 sound and light system to add to the experience.
“Everything in here is the newest, latest attractions you can get,” said managing partner John Shaver.
The operators spent $3.2 million outfitting the space on the west side of the mall, between JCPenney and the food court, he said.
Edgewater Mall spent another $3 million on improvements, said mall manager Terry Powell, creating a new entrance and installing windows so people inside the mall can see the action as they walk past Sky Zone.
The large space is completely open but divided into action zones. They include:
▪ Ninja Warrior courses for young and older kids
▪ A toddler play area with a jungle gym, slides and bounces
▪ A sports court with basketball hoops over a spongy court like the surface Olympic gymnasts perform on
▪ Virtual reality area with video boards that let kids enter Super Mario and other games
▪ A zipline, a trapeze and swing, all with airbags underneath for a soft landing
▪ King of the Hill contest area
▪ A challenging log roll
▪ Silks draped from above that kids can climb or swing on
▪ A trampoline court where kids can jump and play games
▪ Dodgeball court
▪ Twin slides with steep drops that can toss a kid up to 10 feet in the air before landing on the airbags
▪ An arcade with air hockey and other games
▪ A snack bar
Shaver said they hired 100 employees and at least one will be at each play element for safety and to engage the kids in games and contests.
Four party rooms are open to the action are available to rent on the second floor plus another on the ground floor that is ADA compliant. Shaver said. Party packages are available with food.
This Friday and Saturday, Sky Zone introduces its Glow parties with lasers, music and blacklights from 7-10 p.m. The three-hour party is $25.
