5 things to do in downtown Shreveport for Valentine's Day and Super Bowl weekend

Over one raucous downtown weekend, we combine 25 years of Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Valentine’s Day, the Abominable Snow Monster, the last ‘great’ decade, and Super Bowl LVI. It’s hard to know where to start…but we definitely know that it will end in fun in our #CoolDowntown.

1. It’s Valentine’s Day weekend and downtown is awash in kissy face events for you and your honey, but if you’re in a love funk, how about Death to Cupid: An Anti-Valentine’s Day Drag Show? If you are over amor, join in this Valentine’s Day protest that will include sashaying and quesadillas, but will NOT include love songs of any kind. When: Fri., Feb. 11, 9 pm- 2 am. 2. Miss the 1990s? For one night, that fabulous decade will return as the 90’s Kickback Concert at Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. Join the jam with Next, Ginuwine, Case, Adina Howard, and others at a music event sure to give you flashbacks to what some call the last ‘best’ decade. When: Fri., Feb. 11, 7-11 pm. 3. Want to eat spaghetti with a Yeti? You do, and Sci-Port Discovery Center knows that! Freddie, Sasquatch’s cold northern cousin, will turn the popular ‘There’s a Yeti in My Spaghetti’ book into a fun day of games, events, and lunch, too! 4. Kenny Wayne Shepherd returns to his hometown to kick off the 25th anniversary tour of ‘Trouble Is…’ The Strand Theatre is where he first debuted the album, so this homecoming will be both raucous and bittersweet. Shepherd is donating proceeds from the concert to the Providence House and the NW Louisiana Family Justice Center. When: Sat., Feb. 12, 7 pm. 5. Care to make a little wager? What are the chances that Super Bowl LVI will be as amazingly awesome as the playoff games leading up to the big day? We won’t know until we tune in, and we have a perfect place to do that! Enjoy Super Bowl LVI at Stray Cat; purchase a drink and enjoy free hot dogs and Frito pies, $1 personal pan pizzas, and more!
