5 takeaways from Akron couple's feature on episode of HGTV's 'My Lottery Dream Home'
Akron was in the spotlight when HGTV highlighted an Akron couple's quest for a new home for their blended family.
The episode dubbed "The Akron Bunch" premiered Oct. 7 on "My Lottery Dream Home" and is hosted by designer David Bromstad.
The Akron couple featured on the episode, Marva and Nathan, whose last names were not disclosed in the episode, were in search of a bigger place in the midst of blending their families together with seven kids combined including two sets of twins.
The hour-long reality show follows lottery winners looking for new digs after winning a prize.

Where did the couple get their winning Ohio lottery ticket?
The Ohio Lottery says Marva Lawson of Akron, who was featured on the show, won a top prize of $150,000 playing the scratch-off Cash Multiplier game.
After taxes, she cleared $108,000.
Lawson purchased her winning $5 ticket at Circle K on State Road in Cuyahoga Falls last October.
Episode showcases sights to see in Akron
The episode featured a number of iconic sights in and around Akron.
The Akron Civic Theatre, Main Street and the Northside Lofts were shown in the episode.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Rail Road also made an appearance, as did the Rubber Worker Sculpture on East Mill Street.
What homes did the Akron couple consider?
In the episode, the couple was looking for a home that was large enough for their blended family.
Akron Realtor Barb Snyder helped narrow down the choices to a new construction townhome to existing homes in Akron's Castle Park and Highland Square neighborhoods.
The prices ranged from $264,000 to $309,000.
They did settle on one of the homes, but we won't spoil the surprise here.
What did David Bromstad think of Akron?
Host David Bromstad said in the episode that this was the first time he had ever visited Akron.
He said he was struck by the number of parks and amenities and beautiful homes the city offered.
Bromstad said he was most wowed by the home prices compared to other hot real estate markets in the country.
"We have found the Holy Grail of affordable houses − Akron, Ohio," he said in the episode. ". . . Akron is the sweet spot in the United States for affordable housing."
When can I watch the Akron episode of 'My Lottery Dream Home' on HGTV?
The Akron episode is set to air next on HGTV at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 21, 12:30 a.m. Oct. 22 and 10:30 p.m. Oct. 30.
